Editorial: Lowe now missing a CEO and an identity

Pushing water uphill may be nothing compared with the task confronting whoever succeeds Steve Gatfield as the Lowe Worldwide chief executive.

As if the prospect of having to lead the network through an impending recession isn't enough, there's the added challenge of articulating what Lowe is and what it stands for within a fast-changing communication world.

It can't realistically compete with the global network giants, yet doesn't fit comfortably into the micro network sector alongside the likes of Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Fallon.

Those of a nervous disposition need not apply.
