EDITORIAL: Politicians cut their advertising spends

Will the 2001 general election go down as the one in which

Britain's politicians fell out of love with advertising? The massive

cuts in spending by both Labour and the Conservatives suggests so.

Perhaps they've realised at last that advertising which can't deliver on

its promises is doomed to fail.
