Edward to join ITN New Media

ITN New Media has named Philippa Edward, FT.com’s head of new-media sales, its commercial director.

ITN New Media has named Philippa Edward, FT.com’s head of new-media

sales, its commercial director.



Edward, who started out as a secretary for Reuters, will join the

company on 24 July and take charge of driving commercial revenues across

ITN’s new-media platforms.



ITN’s new-media portfolio consists of the news website and its

associated radio websites - LBC and News Direct - plus a series of

interactive initiatives that are being planned to support the launch of

ITN’s 24-hour news channel on cable and satellite TV.



Edward, 31, will also look at advertising opportunities on personal

digital assistants (PDAs) like palm-top organisers and mobile

phones.



Her role will be split between advertising sales, business development

and running a small marketing team.



At the FT, Edward was responsible for the business development and sales

for FT Business and FT.com.



Before that, she worked at Reuters within the online and real-time

markets as both sales manager and global account manager.



Garry Baines, managing director at ITN New Media, said: ’Philippa joins

at a crucial stage. We are planning to build a direct ITN consumer brand

by developing a family of channels aimed at the convergent media

market.’



Commenting on her new post, Edward said: ’ITN is poised to fully exploit

all the new distribution channels now available in the new media

arena.’



ITN New Media manages and produces websites for London’s 24-hour news

radio station News Direct and LBC and also for Orange’s UK digital

mobile phone network and its WAP mobile service.



Edward takes over from Owen Valentine Pringle, who has left ITN to join

BSkyB as marketing controller for new media.
