MTV Networks UK is consolidating its MTV and VH-1 ad accounts into one agency, and has drawn up a longlist of eight agencies to pitch for the pounds 8 million business.
Leagas Delaney, Leith London, Soul, Burkitt DDB, Saatchi & Saatchi, Malcolm Moore Deakin Blazye and BDS Beechwood have been asked to pitch alongside Springer & Jacoby, the incumbent on the VH1 account. Magic Hat, McCann-Erickson's youth marketing arm and the incumbent on MTV, has been dropped. A shortlist of four will then be selected.
The move will see the entire portfolio, which includes MTV and VH1 and the four digital channels MTV Extra, MTV Base, MTV2 and VH1 Classic, brought under the umbrella of the winner.
The review, which is taking place through the AAR, is being overseen by Fiona Battle, the brand manager at VH1, Andrea Harris, the brand manager at MTV, and David Pullan, the vice-president of marketing.
Dylan Jones, the communications manager at MTV Networks UK, said: 'We've had different agencies working on bits of the business as it's been felt that the brands were too different. However, we've decided that if we've got one agency then we'll get cohesive work across the board.'
