- Elisabeth Murdoch is to leave BSkyB, where she is managing director of Sky Networks, to set up her own UK-based venture specialising in television, film and new media content.

She joined Sky in 1995 and held a number of positions at the company before becoming managing director of Sky Networks, where she has responsibility for Sky's programming business, in 1998.

In a statement Murdoch said "I have enjoyed my four years at Sky enormously. It is a company that I have been proud to work for and contribute to. At Sky, I have had the privilege of working with some of the best television executives around and it is with some lament that I leave such a winning team. However now is a great time to pursue something that I have been thinking about for some time."

A successor has yet to be named.
