- EMAP is building on its city radio networks with the launch of six digital gateway web sites in the North of England.
The launch is being backed by a £2 million integrated advertising and sponsorship campaign running across EMAP Radio's network of stations.
The Yourscreen sites aim to offer comprehensive guides to the cities they serve. Ian Clasper, managing director of Yourscreen, said: "We aim to provide a resource to make people's lives easier, giving them an easy reference point for the vibrancy of their own city. Radio and the internet are a powerful combination and we are now able to sell integrated advertising packages, harnessing the strengths of the two media."
Designed and built by EMAP Online, the sites' content has been developed by editorial teams based in each location, with support from news and sports journalists within the radio stations.
It is hoped the venture will build the media group's overall local media share. Sam Bedford, Yourscreen's editorial controller, said: "Yourscreen is about much more than the radio stations. For each city we have developed a restaurant and takeaway guide, a comprehensive sport section, the latest local, national and business news and many interactive features which we are looking to develop even further."
