The two will develop a range of digital products and services. The first will be a website combining Emap's youth brands, such as J17 and Smash Hits, with Channel 4's, which centre around its T4 strand of programming.

The company, which has yet to be named, will launch in the autumn.

Paul Keenan, chief executive of Emap Digital, said: "By combining Emap's 20 years' experience in entertaining teenagers in print with Channel 4's outstanding strength in screen-based entertainment, we'll create one of the world's most potent youth businesses."
