Emap expands The Hits across cable and satellite

LONDON - Emap Performance has signed a deal for carriage of its The Hits channel on all digital TV platforms.

The Hits, which launched on Freeview at the end of October, will now be available to subscribers of Sky Digital, NTL and Telewest. It will now be available to more than 10m subscribers.

Emap is currently engaged in a battle with Viacom for music viewers. MTV launched its The Music Factory channel on Freeview against The Hits.

The Hits will be available on Sky this month and NTL and Telewest in January.

Shirley Renwick, managing director of Emap Performance TV, said: "The Hits is now the only music channel on all digital TV platforms, which is fantastic news for Emap TV."
