Emap Digital is targeting local advertisers as it gets set for the
launch of its first city website, ClickManchester.com.
ClickManchester is one of the clickUK.com network of sites, each
operating in the eight cities already covered by Emap’s Big City Radio
These are Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Preston,
Stockton and Hull. More city-based sites will roll out over the next two
Dave King, Emap Advertising’s broadcast director, is handling sales,
backed by a 12-strong online team.
The unit is offering advertisers sponsorship packages, banners, pop-up
icons and mini-features.
Emap claimed the sites would share the radio stations’ brand values of
’fun, interaction, big-city living and urban attitude’.
The websites will target 15- to 34-year-olds, giving updates on
clubbing, pubs, films, food and local news as well as offering chat
rooms and an e-mail service.
Users will also be able to interact with the stations’ radio
Emap is spending pounds 300,000 on a launch ad campaign. It will run
from the end of July on poster sites and buses in and around
Paul Keenan, chief executive of Emap Digital, said: ’By taking the
content of the Big City Network and our lifestyle and entertainment
brands, we can create brands and generate content that will reach out to
our familiar core audience in a completely different way.’
Tom Hunter, managing director of clickUK.com, added: ’This is an edgy
new site that will appeal to the affluent young market advertisers want
to reach. We have strong links to Emap brands such as Heat, Empire and
FHM, and this will enable us to generate great content for the
Question Time, p10.
