Emap Digital is recruiting a commercial manager and sales team for
a music portal to be built around the magazine and radio brands Q,
Kerrang!, Smash Hits, Kiss, Mixmag, Select and Mojo.
Jerry Perkins, former managing director of Emap’s music magazines, is
heading the project, which will comprise a network of sites. Although
the content will be aimed primarily at consumers, Perkins intends to
exploit commercially the relationship the magazines have with artistes
and their management.
Apart from the usual music retail and banner ads, revenues are being
sought from e-commerce partnerships, digital music downloads,
syndication and the provision of marketing services to the record

entrepreneurs rather than simply good sales people, according to

Although the project will launch as a web portal, other platforms such
as WAP and interactive digital TV are being explored, with the intention
of utilising Emap’s digital channel The Box.
