Emap Business Communications is thought to be renewing efforts to
sell its Emap Finance magazine division.
Emap is keen to sell all the titles - Health Insurance, Insurance Age,
International Risk Management, Planned Savings, The Journal and The
Review Worldwide Reinsurance - as one portfolio. This has deterred
prospective buyers, thought to include Timothy Benn Publishing,
publisher of Post Magazine and Reinsurance, VNU, publisher of
Accountancy Age, and Southern Magazines, publisher of Insurance Times
and Global Reinsurance.
Timothy Benn’s managing director Roger Michael would not comment beyond
saying: ’We look at all acquisition opportunities very seriously.’
City Financial Communications, publisher of Investment Week, has ruled
itself out. Chief executive Tim Weller said: ’We are only interested in
businesses to which we can add value. We don’t acquire things for vanity
reasons.’
