- Emap Online has announced it is to transfer its third-party Internet advertising sales activities to online sales operation Real Media, in order to focus exclusively on marketing its own portfolio of Websites.
The non-Emap Websites formerly sold by Emap, which include Ministry of Sound and the official sites for Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham, will be incorporated into the international group of titles currently represented by Real Media.
Emap said the brands it has developed online over the last 18 months, such as 1ski.com, A2bTravel.com, Aloud.com, Althorp House, Bargainholidays.com, Scrum.com, The Soccer and Rugby Channel, UK Online and What's on Stage have now developed to the point where it needs to concentrate exclusively on its own sites.
Carol Dukes, joint managing director of Emap Online, said: "It was important for us to put into place alternative arrangements to ensure the best possible sales support for our customers and partner Web sites. Real Media has an established management and sales team in London, as well as comprehensive operations in the US and some other countries."
According to Tim Brown, managing director of Real Media UK: "This hand-over of the former Emap partner sites is ideal for both parties, allowing Emap Online to focus on commercial development of the company's own Web sites and Real Media to expand its rapidly growing portfolio of quality UK web sites."
