Emap poaches Coligan from Zenith

After a three-month search, Emap Advertising has hired Zenith

Media’s managing partner Theresa Coligan as its magazine sales

director.

The appointment makes Coligan the most senior ex-agency figure in

magazine sales. She has responsibility for 140 staff selling 40 consumer

magazines, including Elle, FHM and New Woman.

It means that, following last week’s addition of the digital remit to

Dave King’s broadcast responsibility, all three Emap media sectors will

be headed by ex-agency people.

Coligan, who has been at Zenith for 11 years, will be responsible for

all magazine revenue other than that brought in through cross-media

deals.

The search for a magazines head has been the subject of much speculation

involving at least six well-known agency names plus senior ad directors

from magazines and newspapers.

Emap Advertising managing director Tom Toumazis said Coligan had great

knowledge of magazines and her customer focus would provide greater

understanding of agency needs.

’Our new structure is showing results but I want Theresa’s input into

how we can evolve it,’ said Toumazis.

Agency account directors James Carter, Lisa Rowland and Cath Ware will

report to Coligan and client director Loredana Roberts.
