The annual awards, known as ‘The Millies’, honour and recognise UK military personnel who have made enormous sacrifices and served their country with the highest distinction.

ESC Events will have 39 hours to produce, build and take down the event. It will construct a transparent marquee around the museum’s 16 metre-long, 100-tonne guns and permanent artillery displays as a centrepiece to the event’s two drinks receptions.

Guests will sit for a formal dinner in the museum’s atrium, throughout which the awards will be presented. During the presentation, short films about the nominees will be screened, telling stories of the service men and women’s bravery.

John Wickens, managing director of ESC Events, says: "We are honoured to once again be supporting The Millies, now in its fifth year. It’s an absolute privilege to organise an awards ceremony that pays tribute to the gallantry and bravery shown by our armed forces.

"The Imperial War Museum is the home of international military history in the UK, making it the perfect venue for such a celebration. The challenge for us will once again be to ensure we make the most of the space we have available and create an event that is bigger and better than last year."

The evening will be attended by hundreds of servicemen and women, plus members of the Royal Family and celebrities.

Last year the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William, David Beckham and David Walliams were among those who attended. The event will be screened on ITV1 on Friday 14 December.
