appointed Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper to handle its European account, which is

worth between pounds 5 million and pounds 8 million.

Euro RSCG beat Grey and Publicis Focus to win the business, after

pitches took place five weeks ago. The spend will be split between key

European markets, including the UK, Germany and France.

Last year, Danka bought Kodak’s global photocopying business for dollars

600 million and has since decided to raise its profile. Danka had

previously spent most of its marketing budget on sports sponsorships

but, although the name became familiar, audiences were still unclear

what the name stood for.

Danka took a pounds 7 million sponsorship of the Arrows Formula One

team, which last season featured Damon Hill as its star driver. It also

secured a product placement deal with the film, Rogue Trader, starring

Ewan McGregor and Anna Friel, about the infamous City trader, Nick

Leeson.

Danka has also invested heavily in horse racing sponsorship. A pounds

300,000 deal with the Lambourn Training Association proved fruitful when

horses from the stable won the Grand National, the Cheltenham Gold Cup

and the Champion Hurdle.

Chris Pinnington, the managing director of Euro RSCG, was unable to

confirm the win.
