Google has announced a new interactive experience that will let music fans digitally explore London's iconic music venue, Abbey Road.

Inside Abbey Road will enable global users to access the studios via a desktop, tablet or phone. As they digitally walk around the space, YouTube videos and archive images from the studios’ history will appear where they originally happened.

An audio tour will also be available in every room, narrated by producer Files Martin, engineer and head of audio projects, Mirek Stiles and broadcaster Lauren Laverne. Inside Abbey Road also gives users the chance to experience a panoramic performance from the centre of London Symphony Orchestra’s set-up and a Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band audio game.

Jeremy Huffelmann, head of events at the venue, told Event: "We’re really proud of Inside Abbey Road. The site provides music fans with an opportunity to find out about Abbey Road’s history and its role in shaping popular culture beyond what we’re generally known for.

"We’re expecting this to pique interest among events clients particularly as it can’t substitute for the experience of actually seeing inside the studios, which are closed to the general public."

Tom Seymour, head of Google’s Creative Lab, said: "We’re always looking at how we can use technology to bring people closer to cultural icons and institutions around the world.

"With Inside Abbey Road, we wanted to open the doors to the iconic music studio for anyone in the world to step inside and experience the stories, the sounds, the people and the equipment that make Abbey Road Studios what it is today."

Abbey Road Studios offers event planners three event spaces for hire with a combined capacity of 400. Guests can enjoy live performances, award ceremonies and dinners, as well as a bespoke Record A Song package.
