Event TV: Behind-the-scenes at Benefit's latest experiential project

Event took a sneak peek inside The Good Ship Benefit on the Thames, as production company The Persuaders fits out the space in time for its 9 April opening.

Dom Franks, director at The Persuaders took the team on a tour around the ship, which is located at Victoria Embankment.

He explained that the vessel offers an overall theme, and characters dressed as sailors will be on hand to show visitors around the space. "From the moment people come on board we want to have the feeling as though you’re arriving on a 1950s Hollywood film set."

It will house a total of five rooms, each with its own unique theme and offering. He described the Pinkton Parlour, a large space by the entry complete with a bar as: "our big art deco-inspired space", where guests can expect to "relax in a very golden age of travel style bar."

The Browzam Lounge will operate as a live theatre space, with a range of entertainment planned throughout the ship’s five-month residency. "We’ll have live acts on, and in the afternoons we are serving afternoon tea and on Sundays we are doing Sunday brunch," said Franks.

There is also the Lashitude Restaurant, which Franks describes as: "a film noir-esque style restaurant all in black and orange." Visitors can expect San Francisco style food here.

The brand hopes to take full advantage of the summer sun, and has opted to transform the ship's outdoor areas into Hoola Decks. "[They] are very much fun, tiki bar-style spaces with lots of relaxing cabanas and beautiful day beds to chill out on," Franks explained.

There is also a secret space on the lower deck, which will be revealed on opening day.

The Persuaders is involved in all elements of the project, from the initial concept to the design visuals and build. "We are also working with staffing and on the menus as well," added Franks.

Benefit recently teamed up with Starbucks to celebrat the month of love. The partnership saw the beauty brand host pop-ups within select Starbucks stores.
