He is financing the operation, to be called HANraHAN, himself and plans to capitalise on a list of agency contacts acquired over his 25 years in the business.
His stable of directors will include Toby Tremlett, Chris Stevenson and Suse Uhlenbrock. They are being joined by Julie Hill, a former Saatchis copywriter who writes and directs for Sky TV, and Matt Ryan, a one-time creative director at Charlotte Street.
Hanrahan's 13-year stint at Saatchis, eight of them in charge of the TV department, ended last summer soon after Tony Granger's arrival as the executive creative director.
Hanrahan, 43, claimed he was undeterred by the harsh economic climate in which production companies have been working. "We're competing in a global marketplace and I'm going to be looking abroad for work," he said.
