Four former senior executives of Saatchi & Saatchi’s regional
operations are being reunited via a deal linking an agency with a
packaging design specialist.
RPG Associates, the Gloucester agency whose client list includes Kraft
Foods, Greene King, Dunlop and Spillers, is selling 49 per cent of its
equity to FLB Design and is moving into FLB’s Cheltenham offices.
FLB works for Coca-Cola, Toys R Us, Bacardi Martini and Warner Lambert
among others, although the two operations will continue to operate
The agreement renews the association between FLB’s David Fowles and Phil
Skinner, formerly chief executive and financial director respectively of
Hall Harrison Cowley in Bristol, who led the management buyout from the
Saatchi group in 1994, and RPG’s senior managers Mike Humphrey and Chris
RPG set up 31 years ago as a subsidiary of London’s Garland Compton
agency which was merged with Saatchis in the 70s. The agency was sold to
its management in the mid-90s.
Fowles, whose agency career includes spells at Euro RSCG, D’Arcy and
McCann-Erickson, left Blair Fowles, the agency he helped found, two
years ago to join FLB.
He said: ’We had been looking for something we could buy into in order
to develop the FLB brand. We had thought of setting up something
ourselves but it’s an uphill battle and aligning with RPG seemed to be
the only thing that made sense.’
Humphrey said: ’We believe that our respective client bases will benefit
from access to a broader range of specialist services.’
