Excite appoints BBH to £25m European ad account

BBH has been briefed to create a new multi-market campaign for roll out across Europe throughout the year.

The campaign is likely to kick off with a heavyweight TV presence during the Euro 2000 football tournament in June.

Excite Europe, which is wholly owned by Excite@Home, has quadrupled its current advertising budget for 2000 to increase support for its localized portals in Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands and the UK.

Excite's marketing strategy and advertising will continue to be developed in conjunction with Branded, the specialist branding and marketing consultancy retained to manage the Excite brand.

BBH will work with a network of local media partners in Europe.

Evan Rudowski, managing director of Excite Europe, said: "As new users continue to flock online in large numbers across the continent, it is essential that we reach these new audiences with our brand proposition through mass-market media such as TV."
