- FCB London has announced a test launch campaign for Nabisco's top selling Oreo biscuit.
The £500,000 advertising campaign will be the first work out of FCB since it won the business in January. The campaign will run both on TV and radio in the West Country and the Midlands TV regions. A planned rollout will follow later in the year.
The commercial - called 'Subtitled Basketball' - is an adaptation of an American film depicting a young boy's attempts to bribe an older basketball player into allowing him a few shots.
The ad, which has 'English' subtitles, is a playful attempt to explain America's deep love for the biscuits, which like Marmite in the UK have become an important part of growing up in the US.
According to FCB creative director John Bacon, said: "Oreo's are a massive global brand loved everywhere except here in Britain because they're a) new, b)rather odd to our tastes. We've capitalised on that oddness and expect Oreo's to become huge here soon."
