- Incumbent Foote, Cone & Belding, Chicago, has resigned from the pitch for the $45 million Midas US creative account.
Midas has invited a number of unnamed agencies to participate in the review, which is expected to be completed by mid-December. FCB had at first agreed to participate in the review.
FCB won the automotive retailer's account just over a year ago in August 1997 following a competitive pitch. The business had previously been handled by J. Walter Thompson.
Media buying is unaffected by the review and FCB's sister shop, TN Media, will continue in that role.
Midas is one of the world's largest providers of automotive services, including exhaust, brakes, steering and suspension, as well as batteries and maintenance services. There are more than 2,700 Midas locations in 19 countries, including nearly 2,150 in North America.
