Five top event spaces in Cardiff

Event takes a look at five different venues in Cardiff with space to hire, including Depot, Wales Millennium Centre and Cardiff Masonic Hall.

Located on Dumballs Road in Cardiff, Depot describes itself as ‘an adaptable, versatile and imaginative space’ used for creative pop-up events, food, drink and music. The 24,000 square foot space has capacity for 700 people, and is located in an old converted factory. The venue has also just been granted A3 planning permission as a restaurant.

The Gate 

The Gate Arts Centre on Keppoch Street in Roath has a number of different event spaces to hire, including theatre space, two studios, its café bar and art galleries. The café/bar space can host up to 60-84 seated or 70-90 standing. Its Grand Theatre can hold up to 350 delegates, and Studio 3 can hold up to 40.

Canal Parade, Cardiff Vale College 

Opened earlier this month, Cardiff Vale College’s new £45m campus also offers event space. Situated on the fourth floor the fully-equipped Business Centre features 10 spaces that are available to hire, including two boardrooms, breakout areas, and access to a dedicated rooftop terrace. The campus also features a rooftop fine dining restaurant with views across the city.

Wales Millennium Centre

Located in the popular Cardiff Bay, the centre has space suitable for events, hospitality, performances and more. The Stones Foyer Bar, which features a high curved ceiling and a large stainless steel bar area, is available for corporate or private hire, and can hold up to 200 with a reception-style set-up.  Its Penderyn Awen Foyer can also host up to 400 for a reception, and has a view through the famous inscription on the front of the building.

Cardiff Masonic Hall 

Offering a total of 14 event spaces, the Cardiff Masonic Hall can host events from a capacity of 12 up to 240 people. Its Duke of Connaught Suite, one of the larger spaces, can be used for product launches, parties, or dining, and can hold up to 180 people. It features a wooden floor, stage, and domed stained glass ceiling.

The Duke of Connaught Temple features oak panelling, a historic organ and spiral staircase, and can hold up to 240 guests.
