The Valentine Stomp
Vintage entertainment act Swing Patrol has partnered with the London Gay Big Band for a jazzy dance event at Wilton’s Music Hall. The 20-piece orchestra will play hits from the likes of Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington as the dance troupe’s founder Scott Cupit MCs the evening.
The event will also include a taster swing dance lesson for those slightly more unbalanced on their feet.
Cupcakes and Coffee at Foyles Bristol
The Bristol branch of bookseller Foyles is celebrating both Valentine’s Day and the launch of Rebecca Stone’s erotic novel, Cupcakes and Coffee, on 13 Feburary. Cupcakes and sparkling drinks will be on offer while exploring how the story came to life with the author.
A Valentine’s evening with Library
Private members club Library, branded as an ‘immersive hideaway for the creatively curious’, has devised an evening inspired by Romeo and Juliet on 13 February. Upon arrival, guests will be divided into ‘Montagues’ and ‘Capulets’ and given a black or red mast for an evening of veiled flirtation.
A DJ set will be provided by Meattransmission and guests will be able to watch live painting and burlesque routines from the House of Kittens. An exhibition of photographic nudes from Peachy ‘n’ Keen will be available to peruse on ‘Juliet’s balcony’.
Museum of Brands Love/Hate Valentine’s Late
In its first Friday Late event on 13 February, the Museum of Brands will be hosting Love/Hate Valentine’s. The night will focus on both the tragedy and comedy of the day and feature a ‘time tunnel challenge’, live entertainment and music to dance to.
Tower Bridge Valentine’s Night
Iconic London venue Tower Bridge is targeting couples thinking of making the leap to marriage this Valentine’s day. Caterer Seasoned will transform the walkways space into a romantic destination, complete with soft lighting, sweet-scented flowers and harmonious music.
For guys (or girls) planning to pop the question, Tower Bridge is offering them the chance to win free venue hire for their wedding day. Colin Sayers, chief executive of Seasoned, said: "It’s that special time of the year again, and this year is set to be better than ever with the new glass flooring taking centre stage, so it’s over to you to say those four little words to that special person in your life."
