Fly Enterprises, publisher of music and gig guide The Fly, has
signed a distribution agreement with Virgin Megastores and is looking
for a sales executive to court mainstream advertisers.
The Fly, which is aimed at 16- to 24-year-olds, claims to have the
second-biggest circulation of any music magazine, distributing around
100,000 copies in 60 independent music venues and at live gigs around

The magazine will be available in 84 Virgin Megastores across the UK by
Sales manager Denzil Thomas, who joined the operation two months ago
from the Student Broadcast Network, said: ’We want to take a lot more
advertising now that the title is more readily available.
’We offer an attractive package to advertisers because ads in The Fly
reach a very specific audience. Although we’ll be going more mainstream,
the type of reader will stay largely the same because the magazine will
be available in the indie sections of the stores.’
The Fly is also looking for companies to sponsor sections of the
Its ’On the Job’ section is sponsored by Activate, the graduate
recruitment directory. Gameplay.com has signed up to sponsor the game
review section from April. Three beer brands are discussing the
possibility of blanket sponsorship of the magazine, website and its live
music venue the Barfly Club.
