Forissier out as IPG restructures media

Marie-Jose Forissier is leaving her post as the worldwide chairman of Initiative Media as its parent company, Interpublic Group, kicks off a wholesale restructure of its media networks.

Michael Roth, IPG's chief executive, is looking for three senior media executives. As well as Forissier, Universal McCann's chief executive, Robin Kent, left this week (see page 5). Meanwhile, IPG is also looking for a media heavy-hitter to fill the newly created role of global head of media, spanning both of the networks.

Alec Gerster, Initiative's chairman and chief executive, will temporarily assume Forissier's responsibilities.

An IPG insider said Kent and Forissier were judged to have maintained too much of a "silo" mentality, allegedly impeding performance at a holding company level.

IPG has approached senior figures at MindShare to fill all three roles.
