Chris Forrest, the former planning director of Duckworth Finn Grubb
Waters, has abandoned plans to join Red Spider, the planning group, and
has set up his own company, Forrest Associates.
Discussions between Forrest and Red Spider broke down at the last
minute, although the two are still planning possible collaborations for
Forrest said: ’There is a great deal of interest in independent planning
at the moment and my phone has not stopped ringing. For the first two
years I intend to be small, and at the moment the ’Associates’ is just
the family and the guinea pig. I have just come out of a happy
relationship and want to sleep around a bit, but eventually I will go
back into world domination mode.’
He is already working with Bartle Bogle Hegarty, putting together a case
for Levi’s entry into the Advertising Effectiveness Awards, and helping
Rapier Stead and Bowden with its pitch for the pounds 25 million Cable
and Wireless launch.
Forrest quit Duckworth Finn nearly two months ago (Campaign, 28 March)
after six years at the agency, with the intention of setting up on his
own. He put these plans on hold only when talks with Red Spider reached
an advanced stage.
At Duckworth Finn, Forrest won two IPA Effectiveness Awards for the
Daewoo launch campaign, and also worked on Pizza Hut. He is
vice-chairman of the Account Planning Group, for which he is running the
1997 APG Awards.
