- Online furniture retailer Furniture.com has appointed the New York office of Bartle Bogle Hegarty to handle its US brand-building advertising account.
The size of the account was not disclosed, but the Framingham, Massachusetts-based retailer said it will be significantly larger than a $5 million radio and print campaign it ran in the spring.
The retailer, one of a handful of start-up firms to offer furniture over the internet (www.furniture.com) in a quest for a slice of the $178 billion home furnishing market, said it had conducted "an extensive search of leading U.S. and international" advertising agencies.
It said the US office of BBH offered its presentation document for the account in the form of an item of furniture.
Cindy Gallop, president of BBH US, said the agency created "a sort of a mini chest of drawers, with one drawer. When you pulled the drawer out, the handle was the spine of the document. The cabinet had four little legs.
"It seemed appropriate for the client," she added.
