Gallagher takes on digital role at OMD

OMD is set to promote from within to replace Amy Lennox, its head of digital who is leaving to launch a start-up with her OMD colleague Phil Nunn.

Mark Gallagher, the executive director and head of press at Manning Gottlieb OMD, is expected to take on the added responsibility of head of digital across the OMD group.

Gallagher's focus is expected to be on digital trading issues. The agency is also said to be considering additional digital appointments to boost its strategic clout in the area.

Gallagher joined Manning Gottlieb OMD in 1999 as an account manager working on its Virgin Mobile and Mitsubishi business. He was appointed as its head of press in 2001.

Lennox and Nunn announced their departure last week and intend to launch a communications planning start-up that includes digital and direct expertise alongside more conventional brand skills (Campaign, 5 April).

The news of their departure coincided with OMD's capture of the £18 million Royal Mail media planning and buying account from Carat.
