GALLERY 06: HypoVereinsbank - Goodbye D-Mark

People's emotional attachment to their national currencies has become starkly apparent with the introduction of the Euro. W&K's approach to the death of the Deutschmark is a clever one. It celebrates its past uses with a serious of nostalgic images, but encourages us to look forward to new dreams, funded by a new currency. The homevideos, spanning 30 years of life in Germany, were cut into a one-hour film and are creatively used by Schmerberg.
