Garvie will take on the role of media manager at the FMCG giant, assuming responsibility for its UK media requirements and £84 million media spend.
The role includes managing agency relationships, and will involve Garvie overseeing MG OMD's sister agency OMD UK, which handles Reckitt Benckiser's media planning and buying.
MG OMD has yet to appoint a replacement for Garvie, who was made the head of TV at the agency in May 2005 as part of a wider management restructure. He was previously the TV account director on its AA business.
OMD UK was appointed to handle Reckitt Benckiser's UK media in 2000.
