- Omnicom Group has announced the merger its BDDP Worldwide and TBWA International networks. The new company will be named TBWA Worldwide.
The merger sees Michael Greenless, previously chairman and CEO of GGT, take the number two position as heir apparent to Bill Tragos, the founder of TBWA, who will remain as chairman. Greenless becomes president and CEO of the enlarged company.
Lee Clow creative director of TBWA International, becomes chief creative officer worldwide of the new company while Jean-Marie Dru, previously chairman of BDDP Worldwide, will be appointed president and CEO International, based in Paris.
Bob Kuperman, currently president and CEO of TBWA Chiat/Day North America, is appointed to the new position of President/CEO of the Americas.
Alasdair Ritchie, previously president Europe TBWA, becomes senior vice president, operations. Eric Giuily, currently COO of BDDP, will become COO International Division.
In London, Paul Bainsfair, the GGT chairman, is likely to run the new agency with Paul Simons, the TBWA Simons Palmer chairman, taking on group-wide responsibilities across Europe.
Trevor Beattie, GGT's creative director, is almost certain to be named creative director.
The merger follows the completion of Omnicom's acquisition of the GGT Group. The combination of the two networks creates one of the world's top ten advertising agency networks, with billings in excess of $6.5 billion, 101 offices in 62 countries and over 5,300 employees.
