Granada Media Sales Satellite and Cable division has appointed its
first account manager to work exclusively on the Money Channel.
Peter McDermott, who was previously an advertising sales executive at
Risk Publication’s Euro magazine, will join the new Money Channel sales
team next January.
Granada Media Sales secured the airtime sales and sponsorship contract
with the Money Channel last month (Media Business, 15 November) and
intends to build a specialist sales force to operate the deal.
Craig Nayman, sales director of Granada Media Sales Satellite and Cable,
commented: ’We are looking at expanding our focus on the Money Channel
and will be recruiting more sales people once the sales process starts
in the new year.
’Our mission is to bring in advertisers who have never used television
before, particularly financial advertisers who have only ever used the
press. We will start by targeting the top 100 advertising agencies and
their financial clients.’
The Money Channel is due to launch in the spring on Sky Digital and will
operate 24 hours a day, bringing live reports from the London Stock
Exchange.
It will also provide information on pensions and savings, mortgages,
insurance and credit cards.
