Janet Grimes, the former head of planning at Ogilvy & Mather, has moved to pres.co/ Foresight - a digital and interactive consultancy, where - she will take the same role.
The move comes a year after O&M strengthened its planning department by recalling Beth Barry, the executive planning director, from its European division. Barry controlled the agency's planning and strategy while Grimes continued to head the day-to-day running of the planning department.
Grimes has been brought in to the digital consultancy to strengthen and develop its planning discipline.
'After 20 years in one part of the business, I felt I'd gone as far as I could. I needed a change. Planning is a new thing for the (digital) business,' Grimes said.
'New media is an industry that continues to evolve as digital channels challenge the traditional models by which companies interact with their customers. I am looking forward to the challenge of helping our clients create lasting advantage in the digital arena,' she added.
Grimes maintains that her move was not linked to Barry's return. 'When Paul Simons arrived (at O&M), the focus on the UK became more important. Beth wanted to be a part of that. It didn't effect my role. She wasn't stepping on my toes - she was very supportive.'
Grimes has worked on several high-profile brands over her career, including Kodak, The Wellcome Foundation, IBM, Open, Barbie and United Distillers & Vintners. She also serves as the chairman of the Account Planning Group.
