- Carolyn McCall, the commercial director of Guardian Newspapers, has been promoted to deputy managing director.
McCall will retain her current board responsibility for the combined Guardian and Observer advertisement department, the enterprise division and the new media department.
McCall, who joined the Guardian in 1986, and was promoted to commercial director last year, had previously held the post of advertisement director. She was also responsible for merging the sales teams when the Guardian purchased the Observer, to create one unified department.
As deputy managing director, McCall will work alongside managing director Caroline Marland.
Marland said: "Guardian Newspapers is undergoing a period of rapid expansion and development and it is an excellent time to appoint a deputy. GNL is lucky to have someone of Carolyn's outstanding calibre to promote into this position."
