Guardian prepares properties section for autumn launch

The Guardian is launching a property and lifestyle section in its Friday newspaper to complement its jobs supplement on Saturdays and create new advertising opportunities.

The Guardian is launching a property and lifestyle section in its

Friday newspaper to complement its jobs supplement on Saturdays and

create new advertising opportunities.



The supplement, Space, launches on 12 September and is being billed as a

cross between Elle Decoration and the Homes and Property section of the

Evening Standard. The full-colour supplement, which will be between A5

and A4 size, will be distributed in 270,000 copies of the Guardian in

the London and the South-east areas.



Stephen Palmer, the Guardian’s marketing director, said: ’The whole

point behind Space is to provide a product which is both useful and

inspirational. It will provide an extra reason to buy the Guardian on

Friday.’



The new supplement aims to attract clients who would not normally

advertise in the newspaper, and will include a classified property

section. An advertising push in the South-east is planned before the

launch through the newspaper’s creative shop, Leagas Delaney, and media

agency, New PHD.
