international exhibition being displayed at British embassies across the
The 60-second black and white commercial, which took the ad industry by
storm when it made its debut six months ago, was selected by the Design
Council as part of its initiative to help UK companies learn more about
The film was chosen because of its use of state-of-the-art technology to
create images of crashing waves which turn into stampeding horses.
Created by Abbott Mead’s Tom Carty and Walter Campbell and shot in
Hawaii by Jonathan Glazer, the commercial features genuine surfers
rather than actors. One is seen waiting for a huge wave, mirroring the
anticipation of waiting for a pint of Guinness to settle.
Andrew Summers, the Design Council’s chief executive, described all the
products chosen as ’leaders in their field that show the breadth of
talent, innovation and creativity in British industry today’.
