Tequila Payne Stracey has appointed Jeremy Hall, the former
planning director of Bates Communications, to do the same job at the
agency.
Hall’s appointment fills a gap left by the previous two incumbents: Rory
Teeling, who came up from the Tequila side and left in the summer, and
Phil Cragg, who went to Bates Communications (now called 141
Communications) to fill the gap left by Hall when he resigned earlier
this year.
Bates Communications lost Hall in the first round of a series of
resignations following a radical restructure which saw the acquisition
of Blue Skies and the subsequent merger of Bates UK’s sales promotion
shop, 141, with its direct marketing outfit, Bates Communications
(Campaign, 21 May). Hall resigned the week the changes were announced,
alongside the chairman and chief executive of the agency, Marcus
Evans.
’Tequila Payne Stracey is an impressive set-up,’ Hall said. ’It has
clearly settled into a solid business unit with an excellent client
list. It also has the backing of a global network. It is an exciting
challenge to be working in this environment.’
Tequila waited three months before filling the position. Jane Asscher,
the newly promoted joint chief executive of the agency, explained: ’We
felt it was important to wait until the right person became available.
Jeremy’s background makes him perfect for the role.’
