Haymarket Publishing, the publisher of Campaign, is launching a US

version of PR Week, its magazine for the public relations industry, this

November.

The weekly magazine will be based in New York with a 25-strong

editorial, advertising and production staff. It will have a nationwide

circulation with journalists based in key locations across the country.

The editor will be Adam Leyland, currently editor of Press Gazette in

the UK.

Haymarket will recruit the bulk of its staff in the US but the launch

will be led by a team from the UK headed by Stephen Farish, publisher of

PR Week.

Michael Heseltine, Haymarket’s founder and a non-executive director,

said: ’This is a big step for us. We believe we can help the PR industry

in America to keep in closer touch with the companies it serves and

provide a voice for the industry with opinion-formers and customers. I

am most encouraged by the reception we have received.’

Farish said: ’The public relations business in the US is several times

the size of the UK industry and yet there is no weekly magazine like PR

Week. We have received a tremendous amount of support and encouragement

from leading PR figures in the US in developing this idea, and we firmly

believe the time is right to launch.’

Haymarket publishes the medical title, Monthly Prescribing Reference, in

the US.
