Opus radio sales has appointed Carolyn Hayward as its group head of
sales for LNR Direct, which houses News Direct 97.3 and LBC 1152.
The former sales director of Peterborough’s Hereward FM replaces Toby
Selves, who left the company to join Freeserve last month (Media
Business, 12 June).
Hayward joins the company on 7 August and will be responsible for
generating local revenue streams.
In her former job at Hereward, Hayward said she achieved revenue rises
of ’125 per cent year on year’.
At LNR Direct, she will be armed with a team of five sales
Peter Charlton, sales director at GWR, said: ’Carolyn has the broad
knowledge of the local market that exists in our sales teams right
across the GWR Group.’
Hayward kicked off her career as an account development manager at Hertz
Leasing and Fleet Management, before joining ITT Directories as a field
In 1993, she moved to Commerce Publications and became display ad
She took her first radio sales position in November 1995 as a sales
executive at FM 103 Horizon, one of a raft of former Chiltern Group
stations that were bought by the GWR Group in 1995.
Hayward was promoted to Horizon’s head of advertising sales in 1997,
before moving to 102.7 Hereward FM in August 1998.
