Wolfson will leave the global media strategy agency where she worked as its head of commercial strategy and activation, to join Hearst on 17 June. She will report into Ella Dolphin, the group commercial director.

The move comes at an uncertain time for Initiative, which lost its uber-client Tesco last week. Britain’s biggest supermarket chain accounted for more than 50 per cent of its total billings in 2014.

Wolfson said: "As one of the leading digital publishers in the UK with powerful magazine brands that mean so much to today’s consumer, I am really excited to be joining such a formidable business as Hearst Magazines UK.

"I look forward to working with Ella and her team to help drive the strategic ambitions of the business."

She was previously Initiative’s joint head of investment, responsible for integrating print and digital commercial teams, and was worked with clients, which include Unilever, General Motors, and Tesco.

Dolphin said: "Jane has a wealth of experience across multiple disciplines and we are thrilled she is joining Hearst Magazines UK at such an exciting time for the business.

"Jane has a strong commercial and strategic focus as well as excellent relationships with clients and agencies. She is a great addition to Hearst."
