From this week, viewers in Sky Digital's 7m homes will be able to use the red button on their remote control to access product information, request a brochure or order a sample while watching iTV ads on either of the two channels.
Toyota has become the first advertiser to use the interactive capabilities with a campaign for its Avensis and Verso models incorporating an interactive brochure request facility.
"The launch of interactive advertising on The History Channel and Biography Channel is another step forward for this fast-moving medium. By extending the reach of iTV advertising, we can deliver even more cost-effective solutions to clients looking to engage more fully with today's consumers," Robert Leach, the head of interactive services at Sky Media, said.
Sky Media also offers iTV advertising on Sky's wholly owned channels including Sky One, Sky News, Sky Sports and Sky Movies.
