The 'Golf Sale' sign has been an omnipresent feature in London for many years, with strategically placed men and women holding the 6 foot high signs.
HMV launched its sale with 30 people impersonating rock stars walking the mile between the record store's two Oxford Street branches carrying HMV-branded signs with lines such as 'Are you barking mad for it?', 'We are sale-ing' and 'This is not a Golf Sale'.
The promotion also included a first-day draw with genuine platinum discs as prizes in the. To enter customers had to visit an HMV store on the morning of the sale on 2 October.
