Adam Smith, the special advisor to the Culture Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, has stepped down after revelations at the Leveson inquiry about his role in News Corporation's attempts to acquire BSkyB. Hunt said in a statement to Parliament: "I conducted this process with scrupulous fairness throughout."
