Hotline: Express Newspapers sees drop in pre-tax profit

Express Newspapers, the owner of the Daily Express and Daily Star, saw a £50 million year-on-year drop in pre-tax profit during the year to 31 December 2008.

The publisher said a sharp increase in printing costs had adversely affected profitability, according to newly filed accounts at Companies House.
