Hotline: Interpublic to install a chief operating officer

Interpublic is set to install a chief operating officer to work with Tony Wright, the newly appointed chief executive of its Lowe subsidiary. Industry sources say the position is likely to be filled within the next few days by a senior manager at Weber Shandwick, the IPG-owned PR company. "Lowe needs to undergo a fitness programme and it needs somebody with operational and financial experience to do the things that Tony can't do and is not particularly interested in doing," an insider said (Newsmaker, page 16).
