The director of the Broadcasting Standards Council, Stephen

Whittle, is returning to the BBC as the controller of editorial policy.

Whittle, who previously worked at the BBC as the chief adviser on

editorial policy, is leaving the BSC in July to replace Phil Harding.

Harding will become the director of English networks and news at BBC

World Service.
