Hotline: WPP needs to improve way it recruits people

WPP has to improve the way it recruits and develops people, its chief executive, Sir Martin Sorrell, admitted at a Nabs event this week.

Sorrell hit out at the advertising industry's "basic approach" of "nicking staff" and said of the industry's approach to recruitment: "We don't recruit the people very well, we don't assess them very well, we don't give them feedback very well."
