HP awards global media account to Omnicom

LONDON - Omnicom Media Group has won Hewlett Packard's global media business, depriving five-year incumbent ZenithOptimedia of the ($320m) £220m account.

Publicis Groupe's ZenithOptimedia, which repitched for the account in a final round against WPP's Mediaedge:cia and OMG, has managed the global account since 2004.

Before the final round, agency groups Carat, Havas and Interpublic were also involved in the pitching process.

Omnicom now has responsibility for media planning and buying across the computing group's four business divisions -- Corporate, Personal Systems Group, Technology Solutions Group and Image Printing Group.

According to Nielsen figures, HP spent £220m on media in 2007.

Last year, HP spent £10.5m on advertising in the UK, according to Nielsen.
