Unity, the strategic planning company, is to work with MindShare on
H. P. Bulmer’s pounds 8 million media account, following the brewer’s
decision not to review its business out of MindShare in the wake of a
three-way pitch.
Manning Gottlieb Media and Booth Lockett Makin pitched for Bulmer’s
media planning and buying almost two months ago. Manning Gottlieb pulled
out of the pitch, citing an unprofessional approach to what was,
according to its managing partner, Colin Gottlieb, ’not a straight
pitch’.
Booth Lockett Makin was this week informed that the media buying would
be staying with the incumbent, J. Walter Thompson, which is to merge
with the Network to form MindShare at the beginning of next year.
Unity was understood to be in talks with the brewer as Campaign went to
press. No-one at Unity was available for comment. A decision on the
creative account is expected next week.
